Class Descriptions
Pilates Mat - Beginner/Intermediate (1/2)
We recommend this class for students who are new to Pilates. This class introduces you to the floor work movements as well as the terminology.
Pilates Mat - Intermediate/Advanced (2/3)
After you are familiar with the Mat floor work movement and are ready for more of a challenge - move onto the intermediate class which will utilize more props - including the pilates toning ring and various resistance Therabands.
Pilates Mat Express
An open class that gives you all the benefits of pilates in 45 minutes.
Community Yoga & Pilates Mat
A donation-based open-level yoga class offered to everyone. Forrest or Vinyasa yoga will be taught on Thursday nights, Pilates Mat offered on Mondays. Advanced registration suggested. Suggested donation is $10.
Detox Yoga Flow
Release stress and detox your entire mind & body through intense flowing movement, mindful breathing, and guided relaxation. Detox Yoga Flow maps out a simple union of three essential yoga practices (pranayama mindful breathing, asana yoga poses and dhyana meditation) in order to create equanimity in your body and guide yourself into a peaceful mind.
Energizing Yoga
This class is about the body, breath and energy. Combining meditation, pranayama, deep stretching, and learn different techniques on how to use our breath with movement to heal the body.
Power Yoga
Focus on alignment and strength in poses, this class helps to heat up the body and remove unwanted toxins. With focus on twists, backbends and inversions you will feel invigorated and energetic for the rest of your day.
Reiki
Reiki is
a form of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) that works to
move and clear held energy - note: everyone has an electromagnetic
field around them, do to the fact that we are made of atoms of
electrically charged matter- protons, neutrons and electrons. Some
think of this as ‘life-force’ energy, others simply see it as moving
electromagnetic energy. Reiki comes to us from Japan and has grown to
be well-respected as a healing and grounding modality.
Reiki
is performed over one’s clothing; lying down, face up on a massage
table. Clients choose to focus on relieving tension from the body in
general, or direct the practitioner to focus on specific areas where
pain, discomfort, or disease is experienced. Clients report a feeling
of relaxation, and peace during a session. Additionally they report an
over-all sense of healing, health and lightness after receiving
treatment. Reiki is often used to reduce stress and to help clients
sleep more peacefully.
Restorative
Students use
props to find comfort and relaxation in poses that they hold for 5-10
min. There is a focus on the breath and calming of the mind and body.
All levels welcome.
Rising Star
Also called Minjushri Healing, is a form of Complimentary and
Alternative Medicine (CAM) that works to move and clear held energy and
bring the client into alignment, energetically - note: everyone has an
electromagnetic field around them, do to the fact that we are made of
atoms of electrically charged matter- protons, neutrons and electrons.
Some think of this as ‘life-force’ energy, others simply see it as
moving electromagnetic energy. Rising Star comes to us from India, via
Ireland. Originally used as a healing modality by Gurus and sages in
India, Minjurshri was learned and is now taught by master teacher,
Derek O’Neal, a well-respected psychotherapist and healer in Ireland.
Rising
Star Healing is performed over one’s clothing; lying down, face up on a
massage table. Practitioners focus in the mid-line of the body-
directly on the chakras- or energy centers. Clients report a feeling of
supreme calm, and peace during a session. Recipients report an
over-all sense of clarity, centeredness and focus in their lives in
general after receiving treatment.
Slow/Basic Yoga
This class offers an extended warm-up and slower pace as we move through asanas, pranayama and relaxation. Especially recommended for beginners and anyone who wants/needs to work at a more relaxed pace.
Vinyasa Flow
Vinyasa Flow class is a made up of creative and thoughtful sequences of sun salutations, standing and seated postures, back bending, hip opening and inversions guided gracefully by continuous breath to calm the mind and tone the body. Each class has an emphasis on creative body movement and alignment so come ready to sweat, play and rejuvenate your soul!
Vinyasa/Restorative Combo
Combining Vinyasa 1/2 and Restorative yoga to give you the perfect mixure of movement, alignment and relaxation.
Meditation
Yoga’ is a Sanskrit word, which in English means ‘yoke’ or ‘union’. Yoga means union of the body, mind, and soul, three aspects which make up who we are. Meditation is very much a part of Yoga, as it is a vehicle for looking deep within oneself and the many aspects of life. It is the only way to the True Self. Meditation is scientifically proven without a shadow of doubt to dramatically reduce stress, lower blood pressure, strengthen the immune system, slow down our catabolic or cellular breakdown process, and speed up our anabolic or cellular growth/repair process. Regular meditation also heightens one’s awareness and opens one up to more synchronicity, which validate when we’re on the right path. If you are interested in understanding your soul, strengthening you mental capacity, or if you thrive for perfect health, our meditation class is one which should not be missed. Qi Gong
Qi Gong is a method of low impact exercise that blends posture and movement, mental concentration and focused breathing. Learn to balance the three treasures, the mind, body, & spirit through ancient Chinese forms of Qi Gong. Discover how to reduce stress, improve your health, and increase vitality by supporting the meridians, or channels of energy in the body. Through various exercises we will nourish the different energetic pathways and organs. Chinese philosophy, breathing, meditation, and healing sounds are an integral part of the program.
Tai Chi
Tai Chi Chuan is a healing martial art form that blends energy circulation, breathing and stretching techniques with martial movement. It integrates the body, mind and spirit for the purpose of improving health and increasing internal power and physical strength. The class will begin with qi building exercises, then focus on learning a 24 posture Yang style short form of Tai Chi Chuan.
